Refined Jugendstil Clock in the Spirit of the Darmstadt School

This exceptional Jugendstil clock masterfully combines refined metal craftsmanship with mechanical precision. The case is made from hand-hammered copper sheet and displays a warm, authentic patina. Its clean lines and understated design are strongly reminiscent of the aesthetics of the Darmstadt School—an important movement within German Jugendstil.

The joints of the case are beautifully finished with rivets, which not only provide structural integrity but also enhance the industrial character of the design. A beveled glass window at the front offers a view of the pendulum in motion—a subtle detail that accentuates the technical beauty of the piece.

The dial features Roman numerals and two stylized hands that perfectly complement the minimalist design of the case.

The Lenzkirch ‘One Million’ Movement

The clock is fitted with a movement by the renowned German clockmaker Lenzkirch, known for its high-quality timepieces. This particular example bears the inscription “One Million” and serial number 458492, referring to the production milestone of Lenzkirch’s one-millionth movement in 1894. The movement has been fully overhauled and is in excellent working condition.

A true collector’s item for enthusiasts of Jugendstil, admirers of historical technology, or connoisseurs of Lenzkirch movements. This clock embodies both the aesthetic ideals of its era and the technical excellence of one of the 19th century’s most esteemed clockmakers.
