I became enamored with the beauty and appearance of antique objects at a very young age and would enjoy myself for hours by listening to the intriguing stories that were hidden behind the objects. As I became older, my collection grew and I found a great passion in the splendor of antiques, especially glass objects from the Art Nouveau and Art Deco period.

Despite this interest, I went in a technical educational direction given my family’s technical background. In the second decades of the millennium I worked as a product manager and shareholder in a sustainability company. My deeply rooted drive to help people and make people happy came into its own within the field of sustainability, but it wasn’t my passion and the feeling of dissatisfaction lingered.

Therefore in 2018, I decided it was high time to say goodbye to my professional role in sustainability. This made room for me to explore the thing that gave me the most energy, such as setting up the Plantenasiel Maastricht and allowing my passion for antique collecting to flourish. My collection started to grow considerably when I acquired the well-known once in a lifetime piece “Loetz Black Bottom vase” within hours of its’ listing online in Switerland. Several times I said to myself “this purchase only happens once in your life”. After saying this 3 times in 2 months there was no question, I was going to follow my dream and combine my heart’s desire to help people with my passion for collecting antiques.

As a collector, I know all too well how difficult it can be to purchase rare and highly sought-after objects. Therefore, I opened Antiques Emporium to utilize my passion, knowledge and worldwide network to provide access for all antique afficionados to acquire rare and uniquely beautiful objects that will delight both novice and museum-level collectors, alike.
