The Johann Loetz Witwe Ausführung 226 belongs to a group of designs that in the 1920’s revived the iridescence processes of the Art Nouveau period, here the Papillon decoration of Loetz. The decoration of Ausführung 226 represents at the time a very successful and for customers very attractive combination, its appeal lying in the colored contrast of the wall zones, the dark part with bluish shimmering spotted pattern and the brilliantly pink colored upper section.
As we know from the archives, this type of Art Deco Loetz glass was one of the most popular and common from this period. It has been produced in large numbers and in around 40 color and decor variants.
