Description:
This beautiful and extraordinarily rare bowl was crafted by Johann Loetz Witwe shortly after 1900, during the heyday of their glass production.
The bowl is executed in a rare Phänomen Genre, for which, unfortunately, no written information has been found in the archives. Nevertheless, it can be stated with certainty that this bowl of exceptional quality and craftsmanship was produced by Loetz.
The technique applied in this bowl is highly complex and was extremely challenging during the production at that time. The heart-shaped leaves, first applied in the year 1900 on a vase documented as Series II – 693, were embedded in the glass. The base color of the bowl is “Metallrot,” with subtle interwoven green glass threads. The heart-shaped leaves, containing uranium, are arranged at four locations around the bowl and exhibit beautifully drawn leaf veins, obtained by embedding iridescent glass threads. The interior of the bowl is also iridescent and is referred to as “Inner Silber.”
This bowl represents an exceptionally rare piece in the collection due to its unique character and limited recognition in collections and archives.
An identical bowl is part of the prestigious collection of the Glass Museum Passau.
