Loetz. The Passion / Lötz. Die Passion. Published in 2015 by NBVD, Potsdam & Hamburg, Germany. Written by Toby Sharp with photographs by Olaf Ballnus. 160 pages with color illustrations. German / English Edition.

Description:

A 160 page, high quality, full color publication focusing on the emotional side of Loetz glass and the relationship between collector and collection. By asking 10 long-term collectors to select their 5 favourite vases and describe why it is they like them and what they feel and experience when they see the piece, the collector’s differing motivations are explored.

The book also features insight into how the condition of Loetz glass affects the value (includes a condition / value grading chart) and helpful tips on storage, maintenance and insurance.

Showcasing 50 of the very best Loetz vases predominantly from the Art Nouveau (1899 – 1904) period of Loetz production, the book depicts many rare and some previously undocumented phenomenon decors. Along with insights into the collector’s mind, the book contains numerous beautiful color photographs (including both whole and close-up shots) taken by Hamburg based photographer, Olaf Ballnus.
