Description:
With pride, we present this exquisite Daum Nancy vase from 1899. Infused with the influences of Japonism, it embodies the Art Nouveau style and stands out through the application of three refined techniques: acid etching, martelé, and fire polishing.
Crafted by one of the most important French glass producers, Daum Nancy, renowned for its sophisticated glass art at the end of the 19th century, this vase speaks to the artistic flair and innovation characteristic of that era. Dating back to 1899, the design is imbued with the influences of Japonism, a movement inspired by the art and aesthetics of Japan.
The diabolo shape of the vase is striking, giving it an elegant and contemporary character. The surface is beautifully adorned with “pois de senteur” blossoms, imparting a delicate and natural element to the vase while simultaneously reflecting the influence of Japanese aesthetics.
The ground color of the glass is transparent and opalescent, creating a subtle play of light and color. Additionally, there is a layer of lilac-colored glass, giving the vase a warm and charming appearance, in line with the color palettes often associated with Japonism.
This Daum vase is not only a work of art in itself but also a tribute to the interplay of cultures and styles that shaped the art of that time. The Daum Nancy signature at the bottom confirms the authenticity of this exceptional piece, adding a valuable element to its aesthetics.
This specific vase has even earned a special place in the glass collection of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy. The fact that an identical vase is included in the literature of the glass collection underscores the historical and artistic value of this masterpiece.
