Description:
Jugendstil vase blown in a particularly elegant shape with three applied handles by Fritz Heckert, Petersdorf, Germany. The vase was designed by Otto Thamm (1880 – 1905) around 1902. The glass consists of colorless glass with inclusions of yellow and lilac glass particles and with inclusions of silver.
Otto Thamm is connected to the Heckert family through a marriage in the year 1891. He soon became director of the Glashütte Fritz Heckert in the following years. The company Fritz Heckert, which originally only decorated glass objects with enamel that had been manufactured elsewhere, soon started to hire glass blowers and make industrial facilities so that they could produce glass themselves. This resulted in exceptionally high-quality glass objects in the most advanced complex shapes and techniques from the Jugendstil period.
