The vase is signed at the bottom with FH (Fritz Heckert), MR (Max Rade), and the decor number 517/1.

Max Rade is a well-known professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden. He created designs for Fritz Heckert in the period from 1898 to 1900. The design of this vase is an excellent example of his mythological Art Nouveau designs.
