Describtion:
This elegant Johann Loetz Witwe vase is executed in one of the most famous Lötz decors, namely the Papillon decor. The Papillon decor was introduced in the year 1898 and is probably one of the most used decors executed on Loetz designs.
The vase is blown in groundcolor cobalt blue glass. The elegant shape of the vase is enriched with 2 applied handles in the same color cobalt blue and with a light iridescence. Furthermore, the vase has a very beautiful mottled papillon iridescence. Due to temperature difference during the production of the vase, a “heat check” has occurred at attachment of one handle, see photo.
