Description:

The Johann Loetz Witwe vase executed in Phänomen Genre 2/177 is a stunning example of early 20th-century art glass. Introduced in 1902, this particular Phänomen Genre is characterized by its unique and captivating design elements. The vase features a ground color of opal, which serves as the canvas for its intricate decoration. Adorning this opal base are silver-yellow spots, creating a striking visual contrast and adding depth to the piece.

One of the most distinctive features of this vase is the circumferential band of combed and pinched blue threads. This band wraps around the body of the vase, showcasing the skilled craftsmanship and artistic flair that Johann Loetz Witwe was renowned for. The technique used to create this pattern results in a dynamic, almost fluid design that seems to dance across the surface of the vase.

Adding to the elegance of the piece are two applied handles in Silberiris, a type of iridescence applied to the glass. These handles are meticulously attached to the body of the vase, enhancing its overall aesthetic and functionality. The iridescence of the glass is exceptionally strong, giving the vase a luminous quality that changes with the angle of the light, creating a mesmerizing effect.

The thickness of the glass in this vase is notably greater than usual, contributing to its durability and high quality. This substantial thickness not only provides a solid feel but also enhances the depth and richness of the colors, making this vase a truly remarkable piece.
